So I started with a box, with a hole through it, and in the centre a cylinder running through. The circle hole and cylinder contrasts with the square of the box.
To add contrast I detail up one side with plenty if circles, Then I pull them all out to different lengths. Not one circle remained in its starting position.
Another View of the pulling out of the circles.
They are all pulled out at this stage. This is a profile shot showing my progress so far. The idea with the circles was to have the circles contrast with the square sides, but, also when they are pulled out the contrast with the other circles because they all now have skewed edges (if that makes sense :) ).
Here is a detail shot showing a possible final positioning. I painted all outwards facing circle surfaces with my contrast texture, and all the sides with a dark blue, though it seems to look black in the print screen
Here is another shot with another possible position for the final.
A rendered profile of the Contrast box.
It was pointed out to me at the above stage that there wasn't all that much contrast in the model. So I extended the side circles to all sides rather than only on one side.
Here is another view to showcase what I just mentioned.
At this stage I drew on some entourage instead of drawing some extra 3D earlier on. (I did this with all my models)
...And here it is all entouraged up, as if it were a coffee table or something.
